Excess Catamarans is consequently developing the range of its catamarans, presenting the preview of the new model, Excess 13, which will have her premiere in 2025. The new unit in the range is following the brand’s philosophy and identity, which can be described with a short slogan “less is more”, meaning improving the live aboard comfort and functionality, without increasing the quantity of materials and equipment.
“Less is more means a constant search for optimization. Aboard the Excess 13, for example, we have installed a rainwater recovery system on the coachroof, which is then stored in a tank. An efficient ventilation system limits the power demanded by the air conditioning unit. Cabin doors have a dual function, as both entrance door and closet door. When one is open, the other is closed. This may seem anecdotal, but with less material and more room for passing, it’s the little details that, put together, make all the difference.”
Hervé Piveteau, Excess 13 Product Manager
The exterior design and naval architecture of the new Excess 13 is the result of the yard’s cooperation with Eric Levet from Marc Lombard Yacht Design Group. The multihull cruising and regatta projects penned by this naval architecture studio are well known to sailing afficionados worldwide. Eric Levet brings some fresh ideas into the new Excess catamaran project, keeping in mind the design ….. from the larger sistership – Excess 14. The exterior line of the hulls is equally aggressive. The hulls are asymmetric, meaning they are narrower under the water line, what optimizes the performances of the boat on sails without compromising the living space and comfort in the cabins.
While searching for innovations with regards to Excess 13 interior, the yard has appointed the architecture studio Piato Yacht Design. After long discussions with the yard representatives, clients and brand’s distributors, Jean-Marc Piaton has quickly identified himself with the brand and created a project, that is coherent with the brief presented by the yard’s design office. The interiors of the Excess 13 project are minimalistic yet creating a comfy and spacious atmosphere.
